Tax credit for domestic help
Did you know that you can receive a 45 % tax credit for domestic help for many of the Home care Harmonia services?
This means that the final costs of a service are 55 % of the original price.
A few noteworthy points on the topic, the information is based on the 2012 taxation information:

The tax credit for domestic help is taken straight from your taxes allowing you to easily see the benefits:
if you get a full 2000 euro tax credit, your taxes are reduced by 2000 euros.

If you buy services that entitle you to the tax credit from a company (such as Home care Harmonia),
you get a full 2000 euro tax credit when you pay roughly 4700 euros for the work of that company.
- The yearly excess is 100 euros.

Two spouses from the same household can be granted separate tax credit. In that case yearly purchases
of 9340 euros entitle to a full credit. Yearly tax credit can be up to 4000 euros in total.
- The credit can only be received for work, not for equipment, supplies or travelling expenses.

Tax credit for domestic help cannot be granted if the same work has already been supported by public
subsidies. Forms of financial support can be found in the law and they include family caregiver’s support,
municipal service cheque for social and healthcare costs, family day care support, financial support for
private medical care, wage support, low-wage support or repair grants from the state or other general
government. Other forms of financial support prevent you from getting the tax credit only in regard to
work for which the support has been given.

Tax credit for domestic help, Kela reimbursements or care allowance for pensioners?
You can’t receive tax credit for domestic help and Kela reimbursements for the same service simultaneously.
Generally all care prescribed by a private doctor is a matter of Kela reimbursements. Nursing and home help
service work by Home care Harmonia are a matter of tax credit for domestic help. And when can I take

Kela reimbursements
Home care Harmonia uses the Kela power of attorney procedure, allowing you to pay only the excess part of
a service. The power of attorney procedure requires a referral from a private doctor as well as a valid Kela card.

Family caregiver’s right to leave
Remember that a family caregiver has the legal right to a three day leave per month. The three days must be taken
advantage of during the calendar year during which they have been accumulated. For more information, read about
